ClineMed is a Direct Primary Care, or DPC, practice that provides family medicine and sports medicine care for your entire family. DPC is a fairly new concept, especially to Tyler and surrounding areas so you may have some questions that we hope are answered here. If you have other questions or would like more details of our practice, please call us and we would be happy to talk with you!

  • What is ClineMed?
ClineMed is a direct primary care practice. We are a family and sports health care clinic that offers immediate, comprehensive, affordable, and personalized care. Infants, children and adults are welcome to join. We have much fewer patients than traditional family practices so that we can extend our time to you to provide the highest quality of care. This allows for a relaxed, comprehensive visit with no wait time.
  • What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct primary care is a healthcare membership model focused on putting the patient first. That means treating them when they need it, never rushing patients through appointments and being proactive with healthcare treatment plans. The doctor-patient relationship is just that-- direct. It allows patients and their physicians more access to each other without the red tape of insurance. Direct primary care clinics do not accept insurance and are not insurance; rather, they choose to work directly with the patient, providing wholesale labs and discounted procedures and imaging among several other benefits. It uses a flat, affordable membership fee so you never have to worry about surprise medical bills. Patients pay once each month and have access to the services your doctor offers. • Does ClineMed accept insurance?
No. Our model of care centers on a direct, personal relationship between you and your doctor. Insurance can be helpful and necessary in catastrophic situations, but insurance companies should not have a voice about the accessibility, quality or cost of your family's everyday health care. Health insurance is not health CARE! Direct Primary Care puts health insurance back to its original intent: coverage of catastrophic rather than routine health care matters. We at ClineMed can help direct you to insurance representatives who can help find the best catastrophic or "high deductible" insurance for your needs, which will also save you money. The DPC model also pairs well with health sharing networks such as Christian Health Ministries, Medishare, Samaritan Ministries and Sedera. If you do have insurance, we can and will still be happy to care for your sports and primary care needs. However, we do not bill your insurance for the services we provide. You can continue to use your insurance plan coverage options for imaging, specialist care, ER visits, and hospitalizations.
  • What sets ClineMed apart from insurance-based medicine?
We have returned family practice medicine to its root values of clinical excellence and compassionate knowledge of every patient. We promise accessibility, convenience and affordability. We promise you will see a physician who will be able to spend as much time with you as needed and provide superior, comprehensive care. We promise price transparency with no surprise billing. You will know the cost of every lab, procedure or imaging before it is performed. Because we care for a limited number of patients and families, there is no waiting to see your physician. You will be able to schedule same-day and next-day appointments with your physician. Don't be surprised when your doctor answers the phone when you call ClineMed! We want to talk to our patients directly.
  • Do you see patients with Medicare or Medicaid?
At this time, we are not able to see patients that already have Medicaid or Medicare due to government regulations. This may change in the future, so if you do have Medicare and are interested in a membership, please reach out to us and we will place you on a waiting list!
  • Do I have to be a member to receive Sports Medicine care?
Yes. Dr. Jon-Michael Cline is a board-certified sports medicine physician who will provide each member with a sports-related concern or injury with a consultation followed by any recommended imaging or treatment plans. If you are a member, the sports-related visit is part of your membership! Imaging such as xrays and MRIs will be an additional, greatly discounted charge. If you are not a member, Dr. Jon-Michael Cline will be happy to see you at Azalea Orthodpedics in Tyler, TX.
  • Will I benefit from joining ClineMed if I am already relatively healthy?
Yes! Medicine is not meant to be reactionary, only seeing your doctor when you are sick. By being proactive and working together with our patients, we can help prevent things from happening rather than trying to fix them after they already happened. Also, most visits to an urgent care or ER can be easily taken care of in a same-day visit at ClineMed. Many times, the savings from not having to visit the ER or urgent care are enough to cover the cost of membership for a year!
  • What if I need to be referred to a specialist?
Over 90% of medical concerns can be cared for by a well-trained family medicine physician. In addition, we have a sports medicine fellowship trained physician who will care for any non-surgical musculoskeletal needs. When you do need to see a specialist, we will refer you to the best specialists for your specific needs, whether they are here in Tyler or a surrounding area such as DFW metroplex, Houston or San Antonio. We will help you to get the best cash price for your specialist visit as well. You can also use your insurance for specialty care.
  • What if I am not sure I want to enroll?
If you prefer, you can call and sign up for a 15-minute virtual "Meet and Greet" with one of our doctors. No charge. This is a great opportunity to see our office, discuss what you are looking for and find out what we have to offer. It is not a medical visit.
  • I have enrolled, now what?"
Once you have submitted your online enrollment form and have signed the patient agreement form, we will call you within 1-2 business days to schedule your first appointment. It is important to make an appointment even if you are not sick. We would like to get to know you and obtain any previous medical records necessary.
